Bronx Gang Member Pleads Guilty To 2018 Shooting In The Nelson Playground
Marvin Gamoneda, a 34-year-old member of the Woodycrime gang, pled guilty to attempted murder and firearm charges for his role in a June 2018 Bronx playground shooting that injured two people, including a 13-year-old child, as part of gang retaliation and drug turf warfare.
Marvin Gamoneda, 34, pled guilty to attempted murder and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, as well as using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, for his participation in a June 7, 2018, shooting at Nelson Playground in the Bronx. During the attack, Gamoneda and other members of the Woodycrime gang opened fire on a rival gang member, accidentally striking two victims—including a 13-year-old child—while enforcing gang territory and protecting their narcotics operations. He faces a maximum of 20 years for the racketeering charges and a mandatory minimum of five years (up to life) for the firearm charge, with sentencing set for July 30, 2021, after an investigation led by the NYPD and FBI and prosecution by the Southern District of New York.

Members and associates of Woodycrime engaged in violence to retaliate against rival gangs, to preserve and expand the gang’s territory, and to protect the gang’s narcotics business.
