narrative

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Advisory Committee on Smaller Public Companies announced a public meeting on October 24–25, 2005, at its headquarters in Washington, D.C., to deliberate on potential recommendations for its final report. Formed to examine how the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other federal securities laws affected smaller public companies, the committee had been conducting hearings nationwide since June 2005. The October meeting marked the transition from fact-finding to report drafting, with the final report due to the SEC in April 2006. The sessions were open to the public and simultaneously webcast on the SEC’s website to ensure transparency. No allegations of fraud, misconduct, or enforcement actions were raised during or related to this meeting. No individuals, companies, or financial figures are referenced in the notice. This document serves solely as an administrative notice of a regulatory review process, not an investigation or legal proceeding.
